Women’s Safety and Resource Center (WSRC)

WSRC provides a variety of services and support to adult and child victims of domestic and sexual violence in Coos County. We provide the essential services of a 24-hour hot line and crisis response team taht can be mobilized at a moments notice to respond and support a victim of assault and/or sexual assault. Our court advocate is at the county courthouse every morning at 7:30am to support victims in petitioning for a temporary restraining order. In addition to the court advocate we have an advocate and an investigator in the District Attorney’s office to assist the DDA’s wiht prosecution of domestic violence cases. We provide a four bedroom, twelve bed emergency shelter for single women and a three bedroom, nine bed emergency shelter for women wiht children. There are eight weekly support groups throughout the county for female victims of domestic violence, three weekly groups for male offenders, and one weekly gorup for male victims. Since 2005 WSRC has operated the Children’s Advocacy Program providing a child friendly supportive environment for victims of neglect, abuse and/or sexual abuse for victims under the age of 18. Our agency continues to look for ways to better support our clients and in 2006 we moved into our newest location, Coddington Place, where we provide an outreach office for walk in clients, ten units of affordable housing for victims who need longer term support in a safe, secure, and supportive environment with on site case managemtn, and child’s play yard, vegetable garden and pet kennels. This rounds out our services and provides our clients with a varienty entry points to all of our services.
