Coos Watershed Association
The Coos Watershed Association (CoosWA) is one of the oldes, and highest performing, councils in the state. Our success is based on working on a voluntary basis with landowners; building social capital among rural residential and agricultural landowners; and having a strong science foundation for our work. The Association formed to create a mechanism through which people of the Coos Watershed can work together to achieve both environmental integrity and economic stability. The Coos WA coordinates and assists in the implementation of enhancement and restoration activities (to day 350+); develops and applies new restoration techniques, and is a source of accurate scientific information concerning the state of the watershed. No other organization operating in the Coos Bay area has this capability and capacity to meet these local economic and environmental development needs because of our unique ability to involve landowners and managers in indentifying, prioritizing and remedying watershed restoration needs.
